Anther fun and interesting review. “Badge of Honor” is the only episode of the entire series that I actually dislike. It looks like a 45-minute music video. You mentioned the thick fog—it seems to be everywhere. The director, Michelle Manning, must have been going for maximum atmosphere. But the tone was often wrong. I think it’s especially noticeable at the end. Mickey seems awfully unmoved that her “friend,” Tim, gets killed. Compare her reaction to any other episode where even a stranger gets killed. Everyone seems to agree that the Miami Vice feel is palpable. I may have missed it, but did you mention that after “Badge,” Manning went on to direct two episodes of Miami Vice? Maybe this was her audition! Her IMDB credits for producer are far more impressive (www.imdb.com/name/nm0543339/?ref_=nmbio_bio_nm#director).
