The Return of the X-Files????

David Duchovney in a recent interview said he wants the X-Files to come back and come back big. He mentioned that Batman was given a second chance why not the X-Files Film franchise. Lets face it I want to Belive was not nearly as bad as Batman and Robin.  He would like another film mae. This next film would be referring to the Alien Invasion mentioned by our friend William B Davis in the final episode of the show. GillianAndersonat a con last year said she too would like to do another X-Files film.

Clash of the Titans Review Part 2

Clash of the Titans–

In the new Clash of the Titans we get a Cgi Slug fest of Epic Proportions. This film follows the same formula as the last one but with some minor changes here or there. The lead role or Perseus is played by that guy from Avatar’s Sam Worthington. This is Sam’s third big CGI film. He seems to get involved in a lot of the swinging at air movies.

Liam Neesen and Ralph Fines round out the main cast as Zeus and Hades. You have to hand it to Liam Neesen the guy is in everything form a Jedi Night to Oscar Shindler to the King of the Gods. If you have seen the original then you may love or hate this film. I do not recommend seeing this in 3-D there are no BIG effects that are worth seeing because it’s a giant Blur in 3-D. that’s what happens when you transfer a film not intended to be 3-D to begin with.

This next part is a compare and contrast to the 81 film.  First this film was not released in 3-D. From what a lot of people have said about the new film that should not have been released in 3-D either. In the ’81 film Perseus falls in love and gets the princess he saves from the Kraken, the big monster at the end of the film. In the new film it seems Perseus could care less about her and just wants to kill Hades for killing his family. He does get a girl, and its the Immortal Evo. In the original Perseus welcomes the gifts from the Gods namely his father Zeus. In the new one he wants nothing to do with the Gods and spits on their name every chance he gets. That little bird I mentioned before is picked up out of a box of trash and told that it’s nothing important. The truth is Sam Worthington wanted nothing to do with the bird and was going to walk off the set if he had to work with the puppet any further.

Check it out at the Leominster Entertainment Cinema.

Boston Comic Con 2010

The Boston Comic Con was this weekend and it was awesome. This year is the first year there will be no BCC Part 1 and 2 there is only one part. They also have been reduced to the basement of a fancy shmancy hotel, kinda like the cons of days of long ago. But this is a good thing as most people who attend live in Mom’s basement no I am kidding, well somewhat kidding. Clash of the Titans Review Part 1

In 1981 a great Ray Harryhausen film came out that was a film to behold even to the gods. Clash was a great movie for its time. It opened a week or two around the time of Raiders of the Lost Ark. It had gret actors George Hamlin Lawrence Olivia Burgess Meradith, and Bond Girl Ursual Andrews. If you get real nitpick with the movie then you wont like how it compares to greek mythology. I saw this film when I was 7 years old and it blew me away I had never seen anything like it. Its on dvd and was just rereleased on dvd and now blueray. The one thing I never understood was what the hell that little bird was about. They had this little mechanical bird that Aphrodite gives Persias to help him on his journey. It made no sence what so ever. They say it was to belike his version of R2D2 but then they also said there bird was developed before Lucas made R2D2. So then your telling me they started working on Clash in 1976 before Star Wars came out in 1977. Then why did Clash not come out till 1981. There are some facts that make no sence, but the movie is still worth checking out.

The Horror of BlockBuster Video

What is it when corporate people get together. must they never figure out if it’s not broken don’t fix it.  They have brought back late fees!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! WHY everything was fine b4 this. In 2004 they did away with late fees. So many people owed them money and they did away with late fees gave everyone a fresh start. in 2010 they brought them back they give u one less day for the rental and they lowered the fee to $4.00. The fee is now a buck a day, guess they sw Red box doing a good thing. But their rental is only a dollar to begin with.  Last year they changed there online terms and really hurt people. I knew quite a few people who dropped them. Netflix has cornered the market on the online download with hits on X-Box PS3 and now the Wii. Blockbuster is suppose to unveil something called the Blue box to compete with Netflix.

They really need to take their head out of their ass and get there act together with Holly wood video filling Chapter 11 they are the only major Video chain in the world with stores u can pop into for a nightly rental.  This is a horror related article in terms of you use BB to rent the newest horror dvd blue ray or video game, just incase anyone was wondering. I leave with this article posted last month about the sorry ass state of BlockBuster video.

On March 12, 2010, PricewaterhouseCoopers, Blockbuster’s independent registered public accounting firm, issued its audit opinion disclosing substantial doubt about Blockbuster’s ability to continue as a going concern. This report was included in Blockbusters’s 10-K SEC filing. On March 17, 2010, Blockbuster issued a bankruptcy warning after continued drops in revenue threatened its ability to service it’s nearly 1 billion dollar debt load

PaxEast 2010 Report

The first ever video game con that Radio of Horror has been to and boy are we tired. Lets go over some of the highlights of the con. This con was put on by the people over at Penny Arcade.

GAMES—These will be the games that really stood out in our mind. We got to play a number of great demos for games such as Shank a very cartoony and violent downloadable game for the 360.  The Calling by Hudson on the Wii, this game is a great point and click japanese style horror game that uses the word survival horror the way it should be. Like the game Siren its less about blasting away the enemy and more about how to survive the game itself. Very rarely do we get this any more. I met with a couple reps for The Calling, and we will have our full review when we get our copy soon. The Dishwasher Dead Samurai another game you can download on the Wii has a sequel coming soon Vampire Tears. This is a twisted violent little game but so cute and weird at the same time. We will be downloading the full game soon and you can check out our review then.  Dungeons and Dragons–The company Turbine was one of the great companies based out of Westwood MA. They develop this great RPG a few years ago, and it has been going strong ever since. They also developed a Lord of the Rings RPG.

Panals—We sat in on a few panels at the con the biggest problem was waiting in line for these panels. It was long and you wasted a lot of time waiting in line for a panal to begin. The biggest panal that stood out for us was for Dead Space 2 by EA. We finally got a contact with EA YAH. They went over the  history of the game in GREAT DETAIL. They went thru the different things you may have missed from DS and DS Extraction.  This panel was more than just how they made the game it was a fan boys dream to hear the developers get very geeky with their details.  Then they showed 2 mins of new footage and had a cos-play Isack Clark come out in the new DS2 armor. It was fantastic. They even passed out Dead Space Graphic novels and Artbooks to the crowd. We got an Art Book. The other panel we attend was for the Collage Humor guys. This is something you have to check out just google Collage humor.

Gaming—There was a lot of great gaming to be had at this con. Bad Company,  Halo, Alien vs Predator, and more. I don’t normally partake in a lot of PC gaming because of not having a great high-end computer but I definitely want to look into it soon.  They even had a Retro gaming room or two that was a real great blast to the past for me.

Other things we did at the con ws partake in a few raffles and we even won Sega’s Beyonetta, The Conduit and the 360 Orange Box. WE met reps from Rockstar,2K, Disney, Alien Ware and more. The Alien Ware setup was huge and it really gave us a chance to see what kind of fire power this gaming pc system has to offer. The massive amount of freebie stuff we got is great. Some of it we will auction off as per a few deals we made, in order to help the wcuw fundraiser.

All in all it was a good time, there were some lag parts, but when you have Weill Wheaton giving the key-note speech it definitely helps the atmosphere of the con and make it lively. I look forward to Pax East 2011. For the next three years it will all be in Boston. Thankfully not at the Hynes Con again next year

Hollywood Video Chapter 11

The big media rental giant Hollywood Video ( who I have always prefered rather than Blockbuster) has filed chapter 11. Once apon a time the Rental industry was strong. But it’s really died like the newspapers. The store located in Worcester Ma on Park Ave has a great selection of Horror and Sci-Fi films. 3 for 18 bucks. I picked up The complete Lone Gunmen, Juon, King Kong(33),and a couple Mystery Science Theater 3000 box sets.  They still have plenty left over go check them out.
